Got a "Cash Offer" Text for Your House? Read This First
Today I got a text from a five-digit number asking if I was "still open to selling" my home. If I filled out their form, they'd get me a cash offer. A lot of homeowners around Everett, Lynnwood, Bothell and Seattle are getting these right now, so I looked into it.
What I found
The link went to a polished-looking website. But I couldn't find a company name I could verify. There was no phone number, no office address and no license number. The page couldn't even keep its own name straight. All it really had was a form asking for your name, phone, email and home address.
Pages like this can be built with AI in a few minutes now. So a professional-looking site doesn't mean there's a real buyer behind it. Most of the time these texts are just collecting your information so it can be passed along or sold.
What I'd do
Don't tap the link, and don't fill out the form. Just delete the text and report it as junk. If a cash buyer ever does reach out, it's fair to ask for their company name, license and proof of funds before you share anything.
